Lajee Center

Located in Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem, Lajee Center is a community-based grassroots creative cultural center that aims to provide refugee youth with cultural, educational, social and developmental opportunities. Its programs are designed in response to the particular needs of the community and the skills and abilities of its members. Lajee Center’s programs include a youth dabke (traditional Palestinian dance) troupe, photography and video classes and exhibitions, and the publication of four bilingual (Arabic-English) books. The center has also been engaged in community mapping projects that we were able to witness in progress when we visited.
