Shashat (which means “screens” in Arabic), is an NGO located in Ramallah, whose work revolves around women’s cinema and the representation of women in culture. Its capacity-building projects support Palestinian women filmmakers and the Palestinian filmmaking sector in general, which is fragmented as a result of the military occupation of Palestine, and which lacks resources. Shashat works to create “networks and partnerships among the Palestinian filmmaking community,” and to connect this community to other film communities internationally.
